Hello, I am running HKO on a Macintosh via Parallels Desktop running Windows XP SP2.
First Impressions:
Frame rate and responsiveness is fantastic, no lags, very smooth and no noticeable issues with graphics and sound. (MacBook Pro 17" 2.33GHz Core 2 Duo, 2GB RAM).
Initial load time was a little long but could be made worse by Kaspersky doing checks, but was worth the wait.
The game is very playable on the Mac with Parallels.
Here are my initial issues:
* Installation of Patch
Received several warnings regarding files that cannot be replaced because they are busy. Clicking "RETRY" seems to allow it to continue without problems.
* Initial Client Launch
After login and loading, received two dialogs about "Downloading Indeo" drivers, clicking continue dismisses them and game does start without a problem, though I didn't see any videos. Unclear if I should download the Indeo drivers.
* AutoUpdate v1.0
This is not succeeding, I keep getting the dialog that says "Get update file error, please try later." Dismissing this leaves the "Check" button dimmed and I can't start the game. If I run the HKO Client directly, that works fine. I looked at the network activity and AutoUpdate seems to be accessing port 80 and 21 at this point, both ports are open, I verified by doing a manual FTP to the address that AutoUpdate was hitting and it opened the port without problems and accessed the server. Therefore I don't think the problem is firewall or network related at this end.
* Splitting Items in Inventory
I can't seem to successfully do this on my MacBook Pro without a mouse, I have not tried with a mouse yet, I will update this post after I do. Using SHIFT + RIGHT CLICK on object does not work. All other RIGHT-CLICK operations are working fine via the MacBook Pro's trackpad using two-finger click feature.
Perhaps there needs to be a better way to sell or use multiple items rather than having to split a stack. A dialog to select how many to use/sell perhaps?
* Windowed Mode Close Box (not Mac specific I'm sure)
Way too easy to accidently click the window's CLOSE box on the top right. Instantly quits the client but causes the VM to crunch for quite a while before returning to normal.
